Day One on the Road - 350 miles

We squeezed the car so full I don’t think we could have fit a newspaper in there. Fred even removed the bottom of the back seat for added room. We had some bulky items this year. We are taking up a folding stationary bicycle to place on the upper helm. Now maybe we can anchor in secluded coves and still get exercise.  Now, with a second dog, there is almost twice the “dog stuff” as before. Merlin is our mature dog at 10 1/2 years old and Guinevere is just 13 weeks.  She is also a tri-colored Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  She loves to torment Merlin. We are always running a defense around him.  They are sure adorable. Merlin & Guinevere We looked at a map and determined that Sutherlin, OR is halfway between Walnut Creek, CA and Anacortes, WA.  We stay in Best Western motels because they are nice, pet friendly and include breakfast.  The Best Western Plus Hartford Inn is one of the nicest.  They recommended Abby’s Pizza as excellent. Getting ready for summer

Per usual we are in chaos as we prepare to head up to Anacortes, WA and move onto Emerald Star.  She is a Navigator Rival 5700, for those of you who are curious.  This will be our 14th season cruising the Inside Passage.  We are looking forward to some guests along the way.  We love to share our favorite places and the cruising lifestyle.  I will strive to keep the blog up to date this year.
